Winter on Fire Acrylic 7 x 5

$100.00 + $10.00 S/H

I am so fascinated by the color of the willows in winter. The contrast between their orange branches and the blue shadows they cast on the snow are eye catching in the winter landscape.

KMD2391 Pathway to the Cotswolds by Kit Hevron Mahoney

The Cotswolds are such a charming region in England. Located in the upper part of the southwest region of England the Cotwolds are the country's largest officially designated 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'. The area is well known for gentle hillsides (‘wolds’) and charming limestone villages. I found the subject of this painting while wandering the pathways around Chipping Camden.

KM2352 Dancing in Delight by Kit Hevron Mahoney

This painting was painted for an upcoming show at my gallery here in Denver; Brushstrokes Studio-Gallery. I share this space with 2 great partners, John K. Harrell and Anita Mosher who are always an inspiration and keep my creative juices flowing. With all my commitments to my gallery and the galleries around the country who represent me I sometimes fall behind in my Daily Painting efforts!

I had fun with this. Other than a tiny picture that I could barely see for reference, she is pretty much the result of my inner flower child coming out.
Peace and Love!

When I was a kid eating outside was a treat. Painting a setting like this one reminded me of my childhood and how cool it was to be outside in nature making even the most mundane meal seem really incredible.

KMD2389 Paris After the Rain by Kit Hevron Mahoney

There is nothing more visually exciting than the colors and reflections right after a small rain shower. When I visited Paris for the first time we had the perfect fall weather and photo opportunities with small rain showers intermittently passing over followed by the sun throughout the day. It was a feast for the eyes and very expensive as I was there before the advent of digital and spent a fortune on film!!!

Steamboat Colorado is the location of this wonderful vista full of rolled hay. The smell of the harvested hay was intoxicating and I hope the painting is too.

Yellow House in a Field of Lavender

I had fun painting this one. Trying to keep loose sketchy strokes. I feel like I've been trying to hard lately so I just went into it without over thinking it too much. It would probably be beneficial to do more like this.

KMD2386 Afternoon Snack by Kit Hevron Mahoney

How could I resist this little fellow? We came upon him while taking an ice cream break in the little town of Gothic outside of Crested Butte here in Colorado. After photographing wildflowers all morning, we stopped to indulge in an ice cream bar and this little guy decided to join us!

KMD2384 Essence of Summer by Kit Hevron Mahoney

There is something just visually exciting about the bright cheery Black Eyed Susans nestled in a sea of purple. Nature's flowers never cease to amaze me which is probably why I keep painting them, knowing I can do them justice but never be as rich as mother nature makes them.

The warm light of the sun setting on this amusement park makes for an eye catching painting. I have to get my reflections in somewhere consequently, the glassy surface of this lake made a spectacular find. This amusement park is called Lakeside and has been entertaining Denver families since the 1950's.

Vacation Home

Sunday, August 16, 2009
The last two weeks I've been participating in the Wyoming Plein Air Fest painting scenes around Cheyenne and up at Pole Mountain. It was a fun time meeting and having the opportunity to paint with artists from all over the country.
I had done a small study 5" x 7"of this painting on July 20..."Parked Out Back" and went back for another view.
It is presently on exhibit at Deselms Art Gallery as part of the Plein Air exhibit.

KMD2383 Adobe Shadows by Kit Hevron Mahoney

Taos, New Mexico scenes are so enticing with the contrast of the turquoise doors, windows and gates to the adobe walls. Turquoise itself is interesting as far as its uses for instance, it has a long standing history of over a 1000 years with Native Americans who have used it extensively for protection and healing.

I can find the most interesting subjects to paint in my own back yard. Denver can look so romantic at times. I often get the comment when I paint Denver on a day like this that it looks so much like Paris or London. Let's just pretend and call it little Paris.

KMD2380 Magnificent Columbine by Kit Hevron Mahoney

The Columbine is Colorado's state flower, and what a magnificent one it is. It is so delicate, usually growing in and amongst our aspen trees but also in the high mountain basins. These were found in Crested Butte this summer.
