She Runs Free - by Deb Kirkeeide

I'm not sure how this one evolved to what it is. Symbolically the horse represents that free and wild spirit within. The moon represents the feminine nature, the stars represent truth, the tree is our life force and the night corresponds to the preferred time to explore hidden aspects of self - as in our dreams. And thus the title of this painting - She Runs Free Beneath The Night Sky.

This is an original ACEO paintingACEO stands for Art Cards, Editions and Originals. They’re collectible miniature paintings that are 2.5" x 3.5". It's a very affordable approach to start and/or add on to your present art collection. These are little "Jewels" when framed and also make excellent gifts

KMD2256 Warm and Glowing by Kit Hevron Mahoney

While in Kansas City last month I photographed some beautiful trees aglow in their fall colors. I not only was drawn to the incredible fall colors of reds, oranges, yellows and every warm hue in between but the great shape and form of the trees. It is such fun to recreate on canvas the warm feeling I experience with the sun lighting up the fall trees.

KM2255 Walking the Talk

Here is a little departure from my norm. I was fascinated with the reflections in the shiny floors at the Denver Art Musuem reflecting the various visitors who were visiting , wandering, looking, studying all the wonderful art. This piece is painted on stretched canvas on one inch stretcher bars with the image wrapping around the sides.

This little lady was playing next to a big fountain in the town square of Portland Oregon. She was so in the moment and completely focused on having a good time that I had to take her picture. I have always wanted to paint her ever since I took her picture and as it turned out I had as much fun painting as she was playing. I guess it was her way of paying it forward. Thanks little lady.

In my travels I have come to a few places that exceed my expectations. The South of France particularly this little town called Saint Remy is one of them. My totally cool and loved cousin Jim lived there and invited me for a visit. It was to be my first time out of the country and ended up the most fantastic trip of my life. I now know why he chose Saint Remy for his residence, it's absolutely enchanting. Thanks Jim for a truly life changing adventure! Oh, and Jim you're in this painting.

Ruth's Red Scarf - By Deb Kirkeeide

I look at this and it reminds me of my mom when she was young. Something about the eyes I think. So I'm naming this one after you, Mom.

KM2248 Mirror Image by Kit Hevron Mahoney

I have been busy painting for our holiday show at Brushstrokes Studio Gallery here in Denver. This is one of a series I am doing for the gallery, hence the size and price which are different than my daily painting offerings. I have been looking for new ways to see and express myself and have gotten really excited about viewing reflections of people in art museum floors where the final painting tells the story of the moment without defining all of the elements. I will be offering some as daily paintings again when I get caught up!

The crisp fall light here in Colorado make for a bright fall landscape painting. While I was taking the pictures the birds were very busy singing and the wind was blowing the tall grass to it's own melody.

KMD2247 Pretty in Pink by Kit Hevron Mahoney

I found these pink poppies in a garden once again, in Crested Butte, Colorado. I was drawn to the blue background that made the flowers stand out and enriched their amazing colors. To the eye the flowers are pink but oh what an amazing spectrum of subtle pinks, oranges and yellows within the petals.
